Happy Spring to all our Beading Friends

Even if you live somewhere where there is still snow, we hope that you are seeing some signs of spring. At a point in time one gets tired of heavy coats and the need to put on boots so this seems like a freeing time of year when you can switch to lighter garments. Everyone seems happier shedding the weight of winter.

A statement by Emily Carr seems appropriate to the changing season. “Oh Spring. I want to go out and feel you and get inspiration. My old things seem dead. I want fresh contacts, more vital searching.” This time of year inspires people to choose lighter and brighter colours for their wardrobe and more generally their creative projects! Sometimes just taking apart and redesigning old pieces of jewellery can give you a spring lift. Sometimes it is just doing something different and creative can be exciting.

On April 7th, we have Kirsty Naray here to lead a workshop using silk paper, beads and other embellishments to create a little work of art as one example of doing something different.  If you have “leftover” beads, seed beads and access to a variety of threads, ribbons and other embellishments, try your hand at something new. Use Lacey’s Stiff Stuff or another firm foundation. These can be painted (acrylic paint thinned with some textile medium from an art supply store) or dyed and then you just play.  If you do make something, send us a picture. We love seeing what people do.

Have a wonderful April everyone!
