Greetings Creative Friends:

“Creativity is intelligence having fun” are words attributed to Albert Einstein and don’t we all want more fun in our lives?

These days it is often a bit harder to get motivated to do creative things. Amongst other projects, Meredith has set herself a challenge to make one beaded square a month…using a 2.5 inch square of beading foundation and leftover beads from finished projects. The fun part comes from asking “how would I ……? and then figuring out a solution. Defining the January square was inspired by seeing blackbirds in the snow. February was easy…a red heart for the Valentine month but then it needed a bit of oomph which came from adding a few gold beads. Squares of this size could be monthly broaches or put in a frame and changed monthly or put on card stock to send to someone special. Defining an objective with a time line helps to stay motivated. Checkout the Challenge page to see photos of these two pieces.

Just minutes a go, this quote arrived in our inbox: “You are under no obligation to remain the same person you were a year ago, a month ago, or even a day ago. You are here to create yourself, continuously” by Richard Feynman. Doesn’t that beg the question: “what am I doing today to continue to create myself?” Something to ponder to be sure. For those of you who are interested in taking their creative work to the next level, take a look at the information elsewhere in this newsletter about some virtual workshops being offered by Craft Ontario.

We are looking forward to being able to see people in the store once again, whenever that might be. We hope that you are exploring creative opportunities to keep you happy during this time of restricted movement.

Very best wishes,

Meredith, Brent and Carrie
