Spring Greetings Beading Friends!
One feels such freedom when no longer having to wear winter coats and boots and see the beautiful fresh colours the fashion industry promotes for spring and summer. "One should either be a work of art or wear a work of art" is an inspirational comment by Oscar Wilde especially suitable for spring creativity. Iris Apfel, known for her flamboyant style and exuberant personality, is one person many would identify as "a work of art". If you google her name, you will find some tremendous ideas for colour and texture for making your wearable work of art.
For people in the Ottawa area or people planning on visiting Ottawa, the Radical Stitch exhibition May 17 - September 30 at the National Art Gallery promises to be an excellent opportunity to see interesting uses of beads, colour and design by Indigenous people. It is considered a landmark exhibition by the Gallery and publicity photos indicate that there will be a broad array of items to see.
Our only show this month will be in Truro, Nova Scotia. Carrie and Brent are looking forward to being there Mother's Day weekend and will have a lot of new merchandise for those planning to visit the show. Don't forget to let us know if you have definite "wants" as we could put your wish list together before packing the van. This way you will have what you really need and can therefore focus on looking at new items. There is no need to pay until you get to the show.
Wishing you a joyous May!
Meredith, Brent and Carrie
