Greetings Beading Friends!
Spring Greetings to Everyone!
Mark Twain apparently said “The secret of getting ahead is getting started”. Creative people always begin with a dream and are frequently hesitant to start down the creative path because they think the dream is too ambitious. Walt Disney encouraged others by saying “If you can dream it, you can do it.”
If you are feeling intimidated by your dream, a good way to begin is to identify chunks of the dream that you can deal with.
Colour is often an easy element to deal with so make some decisions about your colour palette. We each have our own preferences for colour. Look at your wardrobe or check some colour websites for ideas.
Next question whether you know all the techniques that seem to be necessary. If you don’t know them, there are lots of online resources to help you and you should be able to get some help from your local creative supplier. Perhaps there is a local creative group in your area where members could help problem solve.
Another element of the designing process is gathering all the things you need for your dream design. With beading, the worldwide product range is vast. Some designers who share their ideas on web sites or in books and magazines overlook the fact that some of the “ingredients” they are using are not widely available. If you happen to be using someone’s design for inspiration, you may have to make some adaptations if you can’t find the same beads or findings as they have suggested. Let your local supplier know what you are looking for and maybe they have a source to get it for you.
Wishing you a happy and creative month! Nature’s spring colours are invigorating!
